Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the last 16, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Control Asserted from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
