Championship Summary: Brandon Thomas-Asante Double Stretches Coventry Lead

Thomas-Asante's double display earned the Sky Blues a fifth consecutive win, extending their lead at the top of the league standings with a 2-1 triumph over their opponents. Thomas-Asante netted his 7th and 8th strikes of the season, pushing the undefeated side four points clear, ahead of Middlesbrough's forthcoming match at Sheffield Wednesday.

Record-Breaking Keeping Achievement

The home shot-stopper Rushworth exceeded Horace Pearson's longstanding club record of six hundred and eight minutes without conceding a goal—a record that had stood since 1934—before his goal was eventually breached by Kirk's superb chip in stoppage time.

Millwall Continue Rising Amid Injury WoES

Alex Neil praised his "amazing" Millwall side after they climbed up to third in spite of a relentless fitness problem. The patched-up team earned a 3rd consecutive win, two-nil against other high-flyers Stoke at home.

Flying wide player Azeez scored his third goal in 3 matches, while French centre-back Crama hit his first for the club in a satisfying win for Neil against his former side. But the fitness issues are still mounting. Smallbone became the latest casualty when the Saints borrowed player went down clutching his hamstring in the opening half.

"Our team nearly had a full squad a few days ago but since then about 5 players have fallen over," said the manager. "It’s an incredible performance from the players to be where we are considering how many injuries we have had. Will’s hurt his hamstring which is a blow. I am unsure how bad it is yet. We defeated a good side tonight. They were third prior to tonight and we deserved to win."

The Robins Rise to 4th with Fightback Win

Scott Twine scored a second period brace as Bristol City came from behind to go 4th with a 3-1 win over the Saints at Ashton Gate. The Saints took the advantage on the half hour mark when Armstrong broke clear onto a precise through ball from Charles and deftly lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper Radek Vitek. But it needed City just three minutes to level, Mehmeti finishing a comparable opportunity from Rob Dickie’s deflected pass, this time with an unerring right-foot shot from 12 yards when left with only McCarthy to score past.

Scott Twine shot the hosts in front on 57 minutes, arriving unmarked to net from close in after Vyner's shot from the outside of the area had bounced off a Saints player and spun back off a post. He was on target again seven minutes later as wretched defending gave him ample room to break free and lob past McCarthy. It was a special night for Vyner, completing his two hundred and nineteenth Championship appearance for City, a team record.

Charlton Shock Ipswich in Impressive Display

Nathan Jones said he was "extremely pleased" of his Charlton side outstanding display following their three-nil win over Ipswich at Portman Road, while the home side's McKenna commented on the game being a "disappointing result" for the club as they lost at home for the 1st time this season.

The Addicks scored twice through Carey and Macaulay Gillesphey in a pulsating three-minute second half burst, with Miles Leaburn scoring a third as they rose to fifth. The manager commented: "Ipswich have got some team, some side and the first twenty-five minutes we had to adjust to it … After that we began to get a little more assertive and started to get on the front foot a little more and felt we had the clearest chances.

"In my opinion we had four real great chances and at the break we spoke to the players and we attacked the game. The goals were excellent goals and that was an impressive performance."

The Tigers Edge Leicester in Tense Encounter

Millar celebrated a maiden start for club or country in over a year with the Tigers' opening goal in a nervy two-one win over the Foxes. The Canadian player, fit again after an ACL injury, was also implicated in the buildup to Gelhardt's thirty-first-minute decisive goal. The substitute Ramsey pulled a goal back after 67 minutes but Leicester slipped out of the play-off places after suffering a defeat for the 1st time in nine league matches.

Blues Snatch Much-Needed Win

Neumann's opening period header secured Birmingham their 1st win in 5 matches, with a 1-0 victory at Deepdale. The twenty-eight-year-old planted home Cochrane's set-piece in the thirty-third minute and the visitors held on against a Lilywhites team with only one defeat in their previous eight games. It marked Preston's first home defeat in the Championship this season but they had enough opportunities to get a point more out of a tight encounter.

Sheffield United Stage Second Period Fightback

Sheffield United netted three second period goals to overturn a deficit and defeat fellow struggling side Blackburn 3-1 to secure back-to-back Championship wins. In a game of not much skill, the indicators did not look positive for Wilder's visitors when they conceded just before the break through Yuki Ohashi’s 2nd goal of the campaign. But, the Sheffield United fought back in style after the break.

After being given a helping hand through Henriksson's 54th-minute own goal, the Blades carved Blackburn apart twice more. Harrison Burrows converted O'Hare's expertly placed pass in the seventieth minute before his fellow substitute Tyrese Campbell slotted a third from close in in added time.

Sheffield United climb out of the relegation zone for the first time this season but the second period was bad for Blackburn and their fans, who made their feelings clear at the final whistle after a defeat which drops them a position to twenty-third.

The Rams Defeat Canaries to Increase Tension

Ozoh's maiden goal of the campaign gave Derby a 1-0 victory over Norwich City to increase the pressure on Manning. The on-loan Palace player struck soon in the second half to claim Derby's first home win of the season and send Norwich to a defeat which pushed them into the Championship's bottom three. It should have been a different story after the Canaries completely dominated the first half but they failed to take several excellent chances.
