The Spanish champion secured each of his six Grand Slam titles under his coach's guidance, his most recent coming at this year's US Open.
Six-times major champion Carlos Alcaraz has split with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero in a unexpected decision.
Alcaraz, 22, has worked with his compatriot Spaniard since he was a teenager, but revealed on Wednesday that the team have "mutually agreed to part ways" before the upcoming season.
Neither Alcaraz or Ferrero has stated a reason for the split.
The top-ranked player Alcaraz has yet to announced if he intends to replace Ferrero.
"I am grateful for making youthful ambitions into accomplishments," Alcaraz remarked in a message.
"Our journey began this journey when I was very young, and over all this time you've accompanied me on an remarkable journey, on and off the court.
"It has been a pleasure to experience every step of it immensely with you."
Ferrero, 45, is a former top-ranked player. He nurtured Alcaraz's talent at his academy near Murcia before leading him to each of his six Grand Slam titles.
This unexpected coaching change signals the end of a highly successful player-coach relationship that shaped the early career of one of tennis's brightest stars.
